"Are bhagwaan hai yaar, Modiji to!!!", the man behind the counter, apparently the receptionist, exclaimed. "70 saalon mein pehli baar koi aisa dekha hai jo apne liye nhi, desh ke liye jeeta hai.", he said. He was speaking to his colleague, who replied," haan bhaiyya!! Modiji ne to sabka bhala kar dia!! 70 saalon mein jo nhi hua, wo unhone akele kar ke dikha diya. Us aadmi ne jo kiya hai, desh ke liye kiya hai. Fakir aadmi hain wo to."

I was sitting in the reception area of an educational institute, waiting for my friend, as I witnessed two naive gentlemen, sitting behind the counter, discussing the wonders brought about, by the man in power, Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India and the leader of the world's largest political party, the Bhartiya Janata Party. The two men had been absurdly going on with their airy-fairy discussion, for what seemed like hours. They had been talking about how India and its citizens had been suffering under the Congress regime, and how Modi, in his authority as the PM, had connected to the grievances of the common men and had uplifted their status, both socially and economically. On listening to their discussion, it so seemed that India had been an utterly impecunious country since its very existence until Narendra Modi took charge of the country's sinking economy and the often mocked off reputation as a nation, leave alone being considered a progressive state. It was quite apparent that they considered The Indian National Congress and its members responsible for the misery of the people and the plight of the poor and the downtrodden in the country, while it was only owing to Modi, that the country has reached a point where no one sleeps hungry, the empoyment ratio is nearly a 100% and the nation has become a world leader!!!

I was'nt the least astonished at the kind of conversation those gentlemen were having since I've witnessed numerous conversations like these, since the BJP, or better still, Modi came to power, after the 2014 General Elections. Frankly, Modi and his greatness has been part of a large majority's drawing-room conversations, ever since 2014. Initially, I was full of vigour, at least enough to counter the irrational arguments of such people with facts and reason. But ultimately, I realised that the number of these factually incorrect and logically absurd 'Intellectuals' were more in number than one can imagine. They constitute every part of the society, be it offices, educational institutes, etc. as workers, staff, teachers, students and what not!! Therefore as a general notation, these people who present such baseless arguments and are unquestionable supporters of BJP, Modi in particular, are referred to as 'Bhakts'. 'Bhakt' is a Hindi word which means, a devotee, but in this context a Bhakt is someone who follows a leader blindly, and tries to justify every action of his leader with illogical explanations, usually diverting the point of the argument. These Bhakts are by and large, followers of Modi, which earns them the names 'Modi Bhakt' and 'Andh Bhakt' among others. I, therefore concluded that arguing with these Bhakts is pointless. One may for once, make a mute to speak up, or a deaf, hear the lowest of whispers, but arguing with these Bhakts and making them realise, that their reasons are completely inane, is a task that could never have been and maybe, never can be achieved!! The question, here arises that what it actually is, that has led these people into believing that Mr. Modi is a man, who is here to liberate them and provide them, the rights they have ever been deprived of?? Why is it that the devotion, these Bhakts have towards Modi and his ideologies tend to get stronger by the day, even after repeated failures and fallacies of his administration?? Why is it, that the mass holds the INC responsible for the failures of the present administration??

To get answer to these questions, we need to understand a few ideologies. In the year 1945, the world witnessed the end of the 2nd World War, ending with it, the totalitarian rule that had risen to power, the most notable being the that of Adolf Hitler, the German dictator and Benito Mussolini, the Italian dictator, among others. The Post World-War period was one of misery, unemployment, food scarcity and other problems, being faced by the general public, apart from the vast disaster caused by the use of the Nuclear Weapons. In this era of hunger and misery, George Orwell penned down his most notable work, '1984', wherein he stated a vision of the had been world, had these totalitarian powers survived and continued to rule. The principle of 'Ing-Soc' as stated by Orwell, is something that quite aptly describes the ideology the current government opposes. A character in this book, 'Big Brother' is apparently the leader of the people, chosen by them, but who ends up in the one-man-show of the government. 'Big Brother' being a wonderful orator, very well uses his skills and his power, making people believe that he actually has liberated them from a state of misery and pity. I personally find this character more or less like our current leader. According to Big Brother, "The one who controls the past, controls the future, and the one who controls the present, controls the past." He therefore, uses his authority and power and his control over the media, not only to make people believe that he's a hero, but also declares everyone who stands against him or raises his voice against him, to be a criminal. Even thinking of going against him is a crime, 'thought-crime' so he calls it. Continuing this process for years, he ends the intellect in the masses, leaving them to be mere civilised animals who can talk, perhaps taking humans, a step closer to being, what literally means, 'Social Animals'.

The current government has been undertaking all these measures for as long as I can remember. They have, at no point, left any opportunity and have left no stone unturned, whatsoever, to curb the raising voices of protests and questions, by means of either force or by their Media Machinery. The Media plays a major role in putting forth the propaganda of the 'Sarkaar' and creating the false narrative that the ones raising their voices are anti-nationalists, who're trying to put barriers in the Government's path, to raising the standards of the people and the nation as a whole. This Media projects the present Government as the hero of the society, while also trying to cover up their fallacies and failures, usually by spreading communalism and diverting the attention of the common masses by engaging them in non-essential debates and issues, involving religion, making them believe that the essential issues are actually of no importance. The people therefore, tend to believe that jobs, unemplyoment, distress of the downtrodden is no issue to be discussed, rather debates on whether a particular community is loyal enough to be declared as nationalists, is more important. It is owing to this propaganda that issues of lynchings and suicide of the farmers and the depriciating economy stands no importance in the eyes of the masses!!!

This Fascism of the government, no longer remains an issue to be ignored!! The BJP personnels take the liberty and cosider it their duty to label people as nationalists and anti-nationalists, based on their beliefs, both religious and political. The consequences that these actions have had on the people are adverse. People today are afraid to raise their voices, not largely against the government, rather the BJP, for the fear of being either boycotted and attacked or at least trolled, in the least. This hostility of the government towards those raising voices or posing questions on the actions of the government, really is condemnable. Posing questions over the actions of the government is one of our fundamental duties as citizens. The Government is chosen by us, which needs to work for us and is accountable for its actions, to us. The government should therefore, take these criticisms positively, but chances of this happening, seem to be nil, at least under the 'Rule' of the BJP, Modi in particular.
